16.12. General information about system of start of the engine and a precautionary measure

The unique function of system of start is the engine provorachivaniye with sufficient speed for start.

The system of start consists of the battery, a starter, the traction relay of a starter, the switch of ignition and wires. The traction relay is established directly on a starter. The starter knot / the traction relay is fixed in the lower part of the engine, near a coupling case.

When the ignition key turns in the situation "START" (Start), through a chain of management of a starter the traction relay of a starter turns on. Further the traction relay of a starter connects the storage battery to a starter and brings a leading gear wheel of a starter into gearing with a gear rim of a flywheel. The battery provides with electric energy a starter which turns the engine.

On some models with manual transmission the starter joins only at the pressed pedal of coupling. On cars with automatic transmission the starter joins only at the lever of switching of transmission in the situation "P" (Parking) or «N» (Neutral).

At work with system of start of the engine always disconnect a negative wire of the storage battery.
