8.8. Removal, survey and installation of components of coupling

Removal

Access to coupling is usually provided with transmission removal, without removal of the engine from the car. If the engine nevertheless has to be removed for major maintenance, it is necessary to use possibility and to check coupling on existence of signs of wear, replacing worn-out components necessarily. The procedure described below assumes that the engine is in the car.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove transmission from the car, having used recommendations of Head the Manual box of gear shifting (RKPP).
  1. For support of a disk of coupling during removal insert the tool for centering of coupling or an old entrance shaft of transmission into the middle of a basket of coupling.
  1. Attentively examine a flywheel and press a disk, looking for combination labels. If those are not present, put them with a scraper or paint that press the disk and a flywheel at assembly were established in the same situation relatively each other.
  1. Release bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel (are specified by shooters), turning each of them gradually for time. Do it on diagonals until will remove all pressure of a spring.
  1. Grasp press a disk and completely give bolts, then separate press a disk and a conducted disk from a flywheel. Pay attention, in what party the coupling disk is wound.

Survey

Usually, when there are problems in coupling work, them it is possible to charge to wear of assembly of a conducted disk of coupling. However, it is necessary to check at the same time and other components.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Examine a moss wheel (see. A part the Repair work which is carried out without extraction of the engine from the car).
  1. Check directing bearing on the end of a cranked shaft. Make sure that it rotates smoothly and silently.
  1. If the surface of contact of the bearing with entrance shaft of transmission is damaged or worn-out, replace the bearing.
  2. By means of a stripper remove directing bearing.
  1. Establish the new bearing by means of a replaceable head and a hammer.
  1. Examine an overlay of a disk of coupling.

2 Rivets - they hold a slip, and can damage press a disk or a flywheel if will adjoin to their surfaces
3 Inscriptions - «Flywheel side» (the party turned to a flywheel) or something similar
  1. Check, whether there are no traces of pollution by oil and the general signs of wear. If the slip is polluted or worn-out, replace a disk. Check also palpation and thickness of a disk of coupling, then compare results to the sizes specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. If the disk too thin or is deformed, replace it. Check, whether there are no stirred-up rivets, curvatures, the cracks, the broken springs or other obvious damages. As it was specified above, a coupling disk usually replace each time when it remove therefore if there are any doubts concerning its condition, replace it better.
  1. Usually vyzhimny the bearing (1), replace at the same time with replacement of a disk of coupling. Remove the bearing from an entrance shaft.
  1. It is recommended to release also a returnable spring (3), to remove the lever of switching off (2) and to examine deepening for a tip of a pusher of the executive cylinder. Installation of the lever of switching off of coupling and the bearing make upside-down.
  2. Check a working surface of a press disk. If it has cracks, furrows, scratches, oil or colourless spots from an overheat, or other damages, it is necessary to replace a disk. Put a planeness measuring instrument to a surface and make sure that it flat.
  1. Check, whether there are no stirred-up rivets or the deformed petals of a spring.
  1. If there are any signs of wear of a press disk, replace it. It is recommended to take for a rule to replace all components of coupling in collecting (a conducted disk, press a disk and vyzhimny the bearing) or if old components worked rather long time.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation carefully clear working surfaces of a flywheel and a press disk. Work with these components only clean hands. Do not allow oil or dirt hit on frictional surfaces of components of coupling.
  2. Place conducted and press disks on a flywheel, holding a conducted disk on a place by means of the tool for coupling centering. Track that the conducted disk was established correctly (new disks usually have «Flywheel side» marking - the party turned to a flywheel - or something similar). At installation of an old press disk make sure that the labels of combination put earlier coincided.
  3. Tighten bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel only fingers, working around.
  4. If it is not made yet, establish the tool for coupling centering in the middle of a basket of coupling (see an illustration). Move a disk that the tool appeared precisely on the center and the entrance shaft of transmission easily entered through a disk into directing bearing. If a disk badly отцентрован, it will be impossible to establish transmission.
  5. Tighten bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel gradually in turn, moving on diagonals to avoid deformation of a press disk, with demanded effort.
  6. Grease with high-temperature greasing all internal surface of the vyzhimny bearing. Make sure that the interior of a lubricant flute is filled. Put greasing as well on a ball nest, and on fork fingers.
  7. Establish transmission, the executive cylinder and all earlier removed components.
