3.4. Removal and radiator installation

Before the beginning of work let's to the engine cool down completely. |
|
|
If you are going to remove a radiator because of emergence of leaks, remember that it is possible to eliminate insignificant leaks, without removing a radiator, using special hermetic. |
|
|
If the radio receiver of your car is equipped with system of protection against theft, make sure that you gathered the correct code before a battery detachment. |
Removal
|
|
- Disconnect a negative wire of the battery.
- Merge cooling system (see. Head Routine maintenance of the car). If a cooler rather new or in a good condition, do not pour out it that then to use again.

- Weaken collars of hoses...
|
|
|
... also disconnect hoses from a radiator.
|
- If they became attached, grasp each hose at the end flat-nose pliers for the water pump, softly turn to break hermetic, then remove - be careful not to deform and to break target ports of a radiator! If hoses old or worn-out, cut off them and replace new.
- On engines M20 and М30 disconnect a hose of a broad tank from a jellied mouth of a radiator.

- Give screws or remove plastic fastenings of a casing of a radiator and take a casing aside the engine.
|
- On some engines it is possible to remove a casing completely.
- If the car is equipped with AT, disconnect lines of cooling of transmission liquid from a radiator. Put the pallet for collecting the spilled liquid. To Zakuporta open ends of lines and unions.

|
- Disconnect the thermoswitches of the auxiliary fan located on tanks of a radiator.
|
- Switches of high and low speed of work of the auxiliary fan operated by the thermostat are located in radiator tanks, in different places depending on type of the engine and car model.
|
|
- Give bolts of fastening of a radiator. Bolts are usually located or in the top part, or on both parties of a radiator.
|
- Carefully remove a radiator from the bottom support, trying not to damage cooling plates. Not расплескайте a cooler also do not scratch the painted surfaces of the car.
- The removed radiator can be examined on existence of leaks and damages. If he demands repair, address to the expert since the special equipment for this purpose is required.
- It is possible to remove dirt and remains of insects from a radiator by means of the compressed air and a soft brush. Thus try not to damage cooling plates.

- Check radiator support on existence of signs of damages or wear and if necessary replace them.
|

Installation
|
|
- Installation make upside-down.
- After installation fill system of cooling with the recommended mix of antifreeze with water. If necessary apply for information to Head Routine maintenance of the car.
- Start the engine and check, whether there are no leakages of a cooler. Warm up the engine to normal working temperature, as an indicator of that the hot top hose of a radiator will serve. Check level of a cooler and if necessary make having added.
- If your car is equipped with AT, check level and if necessary add transmission liquid.
