9.2.6. Removal and installation of automatic transmission

If the radio receiver of your car is equipped with system of protection against theft, make sure that you gathered the correct code before a battery detachment. |
Removal
|
- Disconnect a negative wire of the battery.
- Disconnect a cable of a drive of a butterfly valve and remove it from an arm on the inlet pipeline (see. Head Power supply system).
- On M10 engines uncover the ignition distributor to prevent its damage during transmission removal when the engine will bend back.
- To Poddomkratta the car and reliably establish it on axial support.
- Remove system of production of the fulfilled gases (see. Head Power supply system).
- Disconnect a selector rod from a cable (see. Section Adjustment of a drive of the lever of the selector).
- Remove the driveshaft (see. Head Coupling).
- To Zakuporta open lines to prevent dirt hit in transmission.
- On transmissions of 3HP 22 uncover transmissions in the lower part of a dome. On transmissions of other models remove an edge of rigidity and the limiter of blow of transmission in the lower part of a dome.
- Through an opening in a dome give bolts of fastening of the converter of rotation to a driving disk. On transmissions of 3HP of 22 such bolts four; on 4HP 22 - three. If necessary turn the engine that all bolts were visible.
- On cars with system of injection of Motronic fuel remove sensors of speed and position of the crankshaft of the engine, the transmissions established in a dome (see. Head ignition System).
- On the cars equipped with transmissions of 4HP of 22 EH, disconnect the electric socket of the control unit in the left part of transmission, directly over the pallet of a case of transmission.
- Prop up transmission from below a special transmission jack or a jack on castors, having placed wooden whetstone between a head of a jack and the pallet of a case of transmission to protect the pallet. Remove a back support of transmission and if it is provided, strengthening beam, having given bolts of their fastening to a body. Lower the engine and transmission on a lobby bearing axes.

In order to avoid damage of the converter of rotation or transmission do not allow a shaft of the converter to keep transmission weight. |
- Give bolts of fastening of a dome of transmission to the engine.
- To get access to the rotation converter, remove a viewing lattice in a lateral part of a dome. Using the lever to hold the converter of rotation reliably fixed on transmission, separate transmission from the engine.
- In case of installation of the new or restored transmission remove the rotation converter with old and establish it on new transmission. To remove the converter from old transmission, insert two long bolts half into fixing openings of the converter and evenly pull for both bolts. For converter installation see. Section Replacement of epiploons, paragraph 6.

Installation
Installation is generally made as it should be, the return to removal, however remember the following:
|
- Tighten bolts of the converter of rotation with demanded effort.
- Before that to attach cooler lines, blow them the compressed air, then wash out pure liquid to remove particles of frictional laying which can litter the new or restored transmission.
- Use new laying on a drain stopper of the pallet of a case of transmission and a new sealing ring of round section on connection of a jellied tube with the pallet.
- At connection of the socket of the control unit on transmissions of 4HP of 22 EH make sure that labels are combined.
- Fill transmission by new pure liquid (see. Head Routine maintenance of the car).
- Adjust a drive of the lever of the selector and a cable of draft of a butterfly valve (see. Sections. Adjustment of a drive of the lever of the selector and Adjustment of a cable of a drive of a butterfly valve).
