5.9. Check and replacement of sensors ignitions (Motronic system)

Some models are equipped with the VMT sensor established on a front of the engine. This sensor is intended for work with the block of testing of BMW and does not treat system of ignition of Motronic.

Sensors of turns and situation

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Find two electric sockets of sensors. The socket of gray color (And) belongs to the situation sensor, and black (In) - to the sensor of turns.

Early models

1 — the Cover of a head of cylinders

Late models

1 — Cтартер
  1. On each socket from the sensor check an ohmmeter resistance between contact 1 (a yellow wire) and contact 2 (a black wire). Resistance should be in limits from 860 to 1060 Ohm.
  2. Also check resistance between contact 3 and either contact 1, or 2. Resistance should make, about, 1000 Ohm.
  3. If indications wrong, replace the sensor (and).

Replacement

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Unscrew the screw (ы) sensor fastenings, having if necessary applied a prutkovy key, and separate the sensor (and) from sockets. Disconnect wires from sensors on one - be convinced that sockets at installation of new sensors are not mixed. On a coupling case the place under the sensor of situation is noted In (the gray socket), and under the sensor of turns - D (the black socket).

When sensors are taken from sockets, it is expedient to check a ledge condition on a flywheel. Turn manually the engine that the ledge appeared under review.

  1. Tighten carefully the screw (ы) fastenings of sensors, be thus attentive, that screws not to draw.

Sensor of impulses (late models)

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Find two electric sockets of sensors. Disconnect from the forward sensor the socket.
  1. Ohmmeter check on each socket from sensors resistance between contact 1 (a yellow wire) and contact 2 (black) wire. Resistance should make from 500 to 600 Ohm.
  1. If indications wrong, replace the sensor.

Replacement

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Six-sided key of 5 mm unscrew a bolt of fastening of the sensor of impulses. The sensor of impulses (it is shown by an arrow) is located on a cover of a belt of a gazoraspredeleniye on the one hand a pulley (late models). Take the sensor from an arm and remove it.
  1. At installation of the new sensor to observance of the correct distance between the end of the sensor and a rotor apply bronze щуп. The ledge of the sensor should be established at distance of 1.0 ± 0.3 mm from a sensor rotor.
  1. Tighten a fastening bolt, being careful, that it not to draw.
