5.3. Check of functioning of system of ignition

Because in system of ignition the high voltage is developed, it is necessary to take measures of the extreme care, what works would not be made with ignition components. It concerns not only the sensor of impulses (electronic ignition), the coil of ignition, the distributor and high-voltage wires of spark plugs, but also the related such components, as tips of spark plugs, a tachometer and other test equipment.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the engine is turned, but not started, disconnect from any spark plug a high-voltage wire and connect it to an iskroobrazovaniye tester (available in the majority of shops of autoaccessories).

There are two various types of testers of an iskroobrazovaniye. Be convinced that your tester is suitable for electronic (contactless) ignition. Connect a tester clip to a case element such as a metal arm.

  1. If the tester of an iskroobrazovaniye is absent, disconnect from one of spark plugs. The isolated tool hold a wire approximately in six millimeters from the block of cylinders - be convinced that the gap does not exceed six millimeters, differently electronic components can fail.
  2. Turn a starter the engine and observe on the end of a tester or the end of a high-voltage wire an iskroobrazovaniye. If there is dark blue well distinguishable spark, on candles tension moves sufficient for fuel ignition. However, candles can be faulty therefore remove them and check, how Routine maintenance of the car is described in Head.
  3. If the iskroobrazovaniye does not occur, check in the same way other high-voltage wire. The irregular iskroobrazovaniye corresponds to its absence.
  4. If the iskroobrazovaniye does not occur, uncover the distributor of ignition and check a cover and a begunok as Routine maintenance of the car is described in Head. If moisture is found, for drainage of a cover and a begunka use a vlagopogloshchayushchy aerosol (or something similar), then establish a cover and repeat the test of an iskroobrazovaniye.
  5. If the iskroobrazovaniye after all does not occur, disconnect from a distributor cover a high-voltage wire of the coil of ignition and check this wire as it is described for wires of spark plugs.
  6. If the iskroobrazovaniye does not occur, check contacts of primary chain of the coil of ignition to be convinced of their purity and reliability. Make necessary repair, then repeat check.
  7. If the iskroobrazovaniye through a high-voltage wire of the coil of ignition occurs, the distributor cover, a begunok, a high-voltage wire (and) spark plugs or a candle (candles) of ignition can be faulty. If the iskroobrazovaniye nevertheless does not occur, there can be faulty a high-voltage wire from the ignition coil to a distributor cover. If replacement of a wire does not change a situation, check the ignition coil (look the Section Check and replacement of the coil of ignition).
