4.16. Functioning check, removal and installation of a measuring instrument of a stream of air Check (L-Jetronic systems)

- Disconnect from the entrance union of a measuring instrument of a stream of air. Carefully open and close a zaslonka of the sensor and check jamming existence. Zaslonka at return flashes can be bent and it to lead to the wrong measurements of resistance. Zaslonka can be bent and remain in partially open situation, causing enrichment of a mix and an engine stop idling.

- Disconnect from a measuring instrument of a stream of air the electric socket.
|
|
- Check an ohmmeter resistance between contacts 7 and 8. Resistance should increase constantly (without “flat sites”) at slow moving of a zaslonka of the sensor from completely closed position in the completely open.
|
- Also check the sensor of temperature of inlet air (in a stream measuring instrument). Check an ohmmeter correctness of resistance between contacts 8 and 9 (look an illustration above). Resistance at 20 ° With should make size from 2200 to 2700 Ohm.

- If resistance sizes correct, check cables (look Head System of onboard electric equipment). Attach to a stream measuring instrument the socket. Be convinced that ignition is switched off. Disconnect the socket from ECU (it is located under the dashboard on the right) and check an ohmmeter resistance between contact 7 and 8. Carefully remove from a stream measuring instrument a cover and observe resistance change when moving from a closed position in the completely open. The result of check should be same, as at the previous check. If in results any differences are observed, in a cable there can be breaks or short circuits.

Check of functioning (Motronic system)
|
|
|
|
- Check an ohmmeter resistance between noted contacts of the electric ECU socket and check resistance change when moving petal. On early systems Motronic use contacts 7 and 9.
|
|
|
- On late models - contacts 7 and 12.
|
- Resistance should increase continuously (without “flat sites”) when moving a petal of the sensor from completely closed position in the completely open.
|
|
Early systems Motronic differ the 35-contact electric socket; in late systems Motronic the 55-contact socket is used. |
- If resistance size wrong, check a cable.
|
|
Removal and installation (all systems)
|
|
- Disconnect from a stream measuring instrument the electric socket.
- Remove an air purifier (look the Section Removal and air purifier installation).
|
|
- Unscrew nuts and take a stream measuring instrument from an impellent compartment or from an air purifier.
|
- Installation is return to removal.
