2.2.14. Removal and check of a condition of an intermediate shaft

The intermediate shaft is applied only on the M20 engine. The shaft rotates in the block of cylinders parallel to cranked valy It is put in action by a belt of a gazoraspredeleniye and its unique task - to rotate the oil pump.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove a gazoraspredeleniye belt (look the Part the Repair work which is carried out without extraction of the engine from the car).
  2. At the removed belt unscrew a bolt of fastening of a cogwheel to an intermediate shaft and bolts of a forward cover.
  3. Remove a leading shaft of the oil pump (look the Part the Repair work which is carried out without extraction of the engine from the car).
  4. The shaft is kept in the block of cylinders by a plate with two bolts. Remove bolts and pull out a shaft from the block forward.
  5. Examine a surface of bearings of a shaft and a cogwheel on the back end which rotates a shaft of the oil pump, in search of signs of abnormal wear. If surfaces of bearings in the block of cylinders have wear, it is necessary to address in a mechanical workshop.
