2.2.24. Installation of a cranked shaft and check of lubricant gaps of radical bearings

Installation of a cranked shaft is the first important step at engine assembly. At this stage it is supposed that the block of cylinders and a cranked shaft are cleared, examined and repaired or ground.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Establish the block in the overturned situation.
  2. Remove bolts of covers of radical bearings and remove covers. For ensuring the correct assembly spread out them in the necessary order.
  3. Take from the block and from covers of radical bearings loose leaves of bearings if they still there are. Wipe surfaces of bearings of the block and covers pure, not leaving fibers, a fabric. They should be irreproachably pure.

Check of lubricant gaps of radical bearings

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Clear reverse sides of new loose leaves of bearings and establish them in each saddle of bearings of the block. If one of loose leaves of each pair has a wide flute, be convinced that the loose leaf with a flute is established in the block. Establish other loose leaves from each pair in the corresponding covers of radical bearings. Be convinced that the ledge on the loose leaf is combined with deepening in the block or a cover.

Lubricant openings in the block should coincide with openings for greasing in loose leaves. Do not hammer the loose leaf on a place and protect surfaces from emergence of jags and scratches. At this stage to grease follows nothing.


  1. The persistent loose leaf with a flange should be established in a cover and a saddle No. 3 on the M10 engine, in a cover and a saddle No. 6 on the M20 engine, in a cover and a saddle No. 4 on the M30 engine and in only in a saddle No. 4 on the M40 engine.
  1. Wipe pure, not leaving fibers, a fabric of a surface of bearings in the block and necks of radical bearings of a cranked shaft.
  2. Check or clean lubricant openings of a cranked shaft as dirt from them will surely get directly to new bearings.
  3. When you will be sure that a cranked shaft pure, carefully lay it on radical bearings.
  4. Before finalizing a cranked shaft, it is necessary to check gaps for greasing of radical bearings.
  1. Cut off some pieces of the corresponding length of the plastic calibrated wire (slightly more shortly width of radical bearings) and place on one piece on a neck of a cranked shaft of each radical bearing, parallel to an axis of a cranked shaft.
  1. Clear in covers of a surface of bearings and establish covers on the corresponding places (do not mix them), thus shooters should be turned to an engine front. Do not get moving forward pieces of a plastic wire.
  2. Having begun with the central radical bearing and moving to extreme, step by step tighten bolts of covers of radical bearings to the effort given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. On engines M10, М20 and М30 tighten bolts in three stages. On M40 engines at first tighten bolts to effort of a stage 1, then tighten bolts on a corner given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. Carry out a bolt dovorachivaniye on a certain corner one movement. In the course of a tightening of bolts do not turn a cranked shaft.
  3. Unscrew bolts and carefully remove covers of radical bearings. Keep covers of radical bearings. Keep them as it should be. Do not touch a plastic wire and do not turn a cranked shaft. If any covers of radical bearings act in film hardly, knock on them from both parties with a hammer with an elastic head.
  1. Compare width flattened a wire of each neck to a scale printed on packing of a plastic wire to receive value of a gap for greasing in radical bearings. Check on the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management their correctness.
  1. If the gap does not correspond to requirements, loose leaves of bearings can be the corresponding size (it means that others are necessary). Before making the decision on need of acquisition of other loose leaves, be convinced that between loose leaves of bearings and covers or the block at measurement of a gap there was no dirt or oil. If the width of a wire appeared unequal on its length, the neck, probably, has a konusnost (look the Section Check of a condition of a cranked shaft).
  2. Carefully remove from necks of bearings and/or surfaces of bearings all traces of a material of a wire. Make it a nail or edge of a plastic credit card that on a surface of bearings did not remain jags or scratches.

Final installation of a cranked shaft

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully remove from the engine a cranked shaft.
  2. Clear surfaces of bearings of the block, then put on both surfaces a thin, equal layer of disulfidmolibdenovy greasing or impellent oil. Do not forget to grease persistent surfaces, also as well as a surface of a neck of the persistent bearing.
  3. Be convinced that necks of a cranked shaft pure, then again establish a cranked shaft into place in the block.
  4. Wipe surfaces of bearings in covers, then grease them with impellent oil.
  5. Establish covers on their places, and shooters should be turned to an engine front.
  6. Wrap a hand bolts.
  7. Slightly strike on the ends of a cranked shaft with a lead or bronze hammer to level surfaces of radical bearings and persistent surfaces of a cranked shaft.
  8. Tighten with demanded effort bolts of covers of bearings, working from the center to edges. On engines M10, М20 and М30 tighten bolts to final effort, in three stages, passing bolts of a cover of the persistent bearing. On M40 engines all bolts tighten in two stages specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management.
  9. On engines M10, М20 and М30 tighten with the demanded effort given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management, bolts of a cover of the persistent bearing.
  10. On models with manual transmission establish for the end of a cranked shaft the new auxiliary bearing (look Head Coupling).
  11. Turn a hand several times a cranked shaft to check existence of obvious jammings.
  12. The last stage is check with the help щупа or the tsiferblatny indicator axial люфта a cranked shaft as Removal of a cranked shaft is described in the Section. If persistent surfaces of a cranked shaft are not worn-out and new bearings are not damaged and established, axial люфт should be normal.
  13. Establish a new epiploon, then wrap bolts of fastening of the case of an epiploon to the block (look the Section Installation of a back epiploon of a cranked shaft).
