2.2.26. Installation of pistons / rods in collecting and check of lubricant gaps in bearings of rods

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation of pistons/rods assembled walls of cylinders should be irreproachably pure, the facet and a cranked shaft should be removed from the upper edge of each cylinder should be established.
  2. Remove from a rod of No. 1 cover (address to the marks made at removal). Remove former loose leaves of bearings and wipe surfaces of bearings of a rod and a cover pure, not leaving fibers, a fabric. They should be irreproachably pure.

Check of lubricant gaps of bearings of rods

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Clear a back surface of the new top loose leaf of the bearing, then establish it on a rod. Be convinced that the ledge of the loose leaf of the bearing coincides with deepening in a rod. Do not hammer the bearing loose leaf into place a hammer and be very careful not to leave on a surface of scratches or jags. Again be convinced that the ledge of the loose leaf coincides with deepening in a cover, and do not put some any greasing. It is essentially important, that being interfaced surfaces of the bearing and a rod at this check irreproachably pure and without oil.
  2. Establish gaps of piston rings under corners 120 ° to each other.
  3. Put on each bolt of a cover of a rod a piece of a plastic or rubber tube.
  4. Grease the piston and rings with pure impellent oil and establish on the piston a szhimatel. Leave a skirt of the piston of acting on 6 or 7 mm to insert the piston into the cylinder. Rings should be compressed until they will not appear aflush with the piston.
  5. Turn a cranked shaft that the neck of the bearing of a rod No. 1 appeared in NMT (the bottom dead point). Put on cylinder walls a layer of impellent oil.
  6. Carefully insert a piston/rod assembled into the cylinder No. 1, having directed a label or cut on the piston bottom towards an engine front, and rest bottom edge of a szhimatel against the block of cylinders.
  7. Strike on the upper edge of a szhimatel of rings to be convinced that it on all circle contacts to the block.
  1. Slightly strike on the piston bottom with the wooden handle of a hammer, thus directing the rod end on a neck of a cranked shaft. Working slowly if at piston advance on cylinders resistance is felt, immediately suspend pressing. Find that disturbs and eliminate the reason. Under no circumstances do not apply force - it is possible to break a ring and/or the piston.

Piston rings before the entrance in the cylinder can jump out from a szhimatel therefore render on a szhimatel of pressure.

  1. When pistons/rods will be assembled established, before a final tightening of bolts of a cover of a rod it is necessary to check a lubricant gap of the bearing.
  2. Cut off a piece of a plastic wire of the corresponding size, it is a little less than a width of the rod bearing, and lay it on a rod No. 1 neck, parallel to an axis of a cranked shaft.
  3. Clear a surface of the bearing of a cover of a rod, remove from rod bolts protective tubes and establish a rod cover. Be convinced that the label on a cover coincides with a label on a rod.
  4. Establish nuts, bolts and tighten with the effort specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. On engines M10 and М30 reach final effort in three stages.

To avoid mistakes in measurement of effort of a tightening, apply a face head with thin walls which will not jam between a cover of a rod and a nut. If a head gets jammed between a nut and a cover, raise a head that it did not concern a cover a little. During this operation do not turn a cranked shaft.

  1. Unscrew a nut and uncover a rod, being careful not to shift a plastic wire.
  1. Compare width of the flattened-out wire to a scale printed on packing of a wire. Compare value to requirements of the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management to be convinced of correctness of a gap.
  1. If the gap differs from demanded, loose leaves of bearings can be the wrong size (that means need of acquisition of new loose leaves). Before making the decision on need of acquisition of other loose leaves, be convinced that at gap measurement between loose leaves and rods or covers there is no dirt or oil. Also again measure diameter of a neck. If the width of a wire was not identical, the neck can have a konusnost (look the Section Check of a condition of a cranked shaft).

Final installation of rods

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully remove from a neck and/or bearing surface all traces of a material of a wire. Be careful not to scratch a bearing surface - do it by a nail or edge of a credit card.
  2. Be convinced that to a surface of bearings irreproachably pure, then put on both surfaces an equal layer of disulfidmolibdenovy greasing or impellent oil. For access to a surface of the loose leaf of the bearing of a rod it is required to push the piston in the cylinder - at first be convinced that on rod bolts if protective tubes are applied, put on.
  3. Back shift a rod on its place on a neck and remove from bolts of a cover of a rod protective tubes. Establish covers of a rod and tighten nuts / bolts with demanded effort.
  4. Repeat the same procedure for other pistons / rods.
  5. Important circumstances is the following:
    • At assembly keep in irreproachable purity external surfaces of loose leaves and internal surfaces of rods and covers.
    • Be convinced that in each cylinder the corresponding pistons/rods assembled are established.
    • Cut or label on the piston should be turned to an engine front.
    • Grease walls of cylinders with pure oil.
    • At installation of covers of rods after check of a lubricant gap grease surfaces of bearings.
  6. After the correct installation of all pistons/rods assembled for stock-taking of obvious jammings by a hand turn several times a cranked shaft.
  7. Check lateral люфт rods (look the Section Removal of a cranked shaft).
  8. Compare measured lateral люфт to requirements of the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management to be convinced of its correctness. If lateral люфт before dismantling was correct and the cranked shaft and rods were established initial, it should remain. If the cranked shaft or new rods were established new, lateral люфт it can appear wrong. If so, rods it is necessary to remove and send for survey in a mechanical workshop.
