16.14. Removal and starter installation

If the starter is faulty, it is necessary to replace or send it for repair to the autoelectrician. Major maintenance of a starter in house conditions is inexpedient, even if there are spare parts. However, the traction relay can be replaced (look the Section Removal and installation of the traction relay).

Removal

If the radio receiver on your car is equipped with system of protection against abduction, before shutdown of the storage battery be convinced that the correct code of activization is known. Before a detachment of a wire address to the Section System of protection of an audiosystem from theft and language of an instrument guard.


If after battery connection on the display of the dashboard there is a message in other language, for procedure of installation of language address to the Section System of protection of an audiosystem from theft and language of an instrument guard.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire of the storage battery.
  2. Lift the car and establish it on props.
  3. Mark the wires attached to plugs of a starter and the traction relay, then disconnect wires.

On some models it is necessary to remove an air purifier (look Head the Power supply system), a broad tank of system of cooling (look Head cooling System) and heater hoses to provide access to the top part of a starter. To avoid mistakes at the subsequent accession carefully mark all hoses and components which act in film in an impellent compartment.


  1. Working under the car, remove the bottom bolt and a nut of fastening of a starter (are shown by shooters) and remove a starter.
