16.28. Check of work and repair of a heater of back glass The heater of back glass consists of several horizontally located elements on a glass surface.
It is possible to eliminate small damages to an element, without removing some back glass.

- Include ignition and a heater of back glass.
- Place positive щуп the voltmeter on the element of a heater closest to the power supply.
- Wrap up a piece of an aluminum foil round negative щупа the voltmeter on a positive side of allegedly faulty element and slowly advance щуп in the direction to its negative side. Watch a voltmeter arrow - when it will move from a zero point, in this place there is a rupture of an element.

Repair
Repair is made directly on a place with use of the repair set recommended specially for this purpose, such, as a repair set of BMW No. 81 22 9 (or its equivalent). The structure of this set includes plastic carried-out epoksidny pitch. The general instructions on this type of repair below are provided; if the instructions attached to a repair set, disperse with mentioned below, follow instructions in a set.

- Before starting element repair, switch off it and let's cool down within several minutes.
- Slightly smooth out an element surface by means of a thin skin, then carefully clear it.
- With sticky tape stick a repaired site, having left a crack for drawing of epoksidny pitch.
- Carefully mix epoksidny pitch, following instructions on packing.
- Put an epoksidny material on the crack left in a sticky tape, blocking the intact site approximately on 20 mm from each party.
- Leave the repaired site to stiffen at 24 o'clock before removal of a tape and use of a heater of back glass.
