17.13. Check and adjustment of turns of idling of the engine and level WITH

Two times year or each 10 000 km of run (that will come earlier)

The engine should be heated-up to normal working temperature, with correctly established corner of an advancing of ignition and the adjusted gaps of valves (where they are regulated). The air filter should be in a good condition, and all electric components (including air central air where it is available) should be switched off.

Carburetor

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect a tachometer and the analyzer of the fulfilled gases (a measuring instrument WITH) to the engine.
  2. Start the engine on single turns.
  1. Check, whether there correspond idling turns to the values specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. Adjustment is possible only on the type 2В4 carburetor. Turn the screw of adjustment of turns of idling before achievement of demanded value.
  1. If idling turns on the carburetor 2В4 are lower than norm, and conducting of the carburetor is not damaged anywhere, it is possible to establish resistance in a management contour. This procedure is in competence of dealer office of the BMW service.
  1. Verify measuring instrument indications WITH with given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management of values. If they do not coincide, turn the screw of adjustment of a mix (2) until they will not coincide.

L-Jetronic

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect a tachometer and a measuring instrument WITH to the engine. Mechanics of BMW use special WITH - a tester which probe is established in the pipeline of system of release, but it is possible to use a usual tester which is inserted into an exhaust pipe. However pay attention that on models with the catalytic converter (the converter of exhaust gases) on an exhaust pipe it is impossible to receive the correct indications of the contents WITH.
  2. Start the engine on single turns.
  3. Check, whether there correspond idling turns to the values specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management. If is not present, remove a protective cap from a casing of an air zaslonka and turn the screw of adjustment of turns of idling before achievement of the necessary value.
  4. Verify measuring instrument indications WITH with given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management of values. The screw of control of a mix is located on a measuring instrument of an air stream, and for adjustment the special tool (BMW No. 13 1 060) can be demanded.

Motronic

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect a tachometer and a measuring instrument WITH to the engine. Mechanics of BMW use special WITH - a tester which probe is established in the pipeline of system of release, but it is possible to use a usual tester which is inserted into an exhaust pipe. However pay attention that on models with the catalytic converter (the converter of exhaust gases) on an exhaust pipe it is impossible to receive the correct indications of the contents WITH.
  2. To adjust manually turns of idling it is impossible, as the stabilizing pneumovalve of idling is put in action by the electronic control unit. If at normal working temperature of the engine turns of idling do not correspond specified in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management to values, check system of a fence of air on existence of leaks, and also operation of the stabilizing pneumovalve (see. Head Power supply system).
  1. Verify measuring instrument indications WITH with given in the Size table and adjusting data at the end of the Management of values. If adjustment is required, take a cap from a measuring instrument of an air stream...

... also turn the adjusting screw before obtaining demanded value (on some models the six-sided key can be demanded). In summary establish a new protective cap.
